FES is an actuarial consulting and reinsurance intermediary firm which specialises in the development of bespoke insurance products for clients in Europe. Our highly experienced team of actuaries and other financial professionals have a proven and enviable record of developing market leading products for our clients. Although we operate across Europe and have developed ideas for clients afar as the Ukraine and Scandinavia, the centre of gravity of our work is in Western Europe, where we have a very strong record of successful product development in the Benelux countries.

New product development

FES is able to successfully develop almost any life assurance or non-life insurance product and we have a strong record of successful products in both categories. Within life assurance we have expertise in each of the main areas of business: Protection (i.e. life, health and disability), Investments (unit linked, guaranteed and other savings-based products) as well as Pensions. In the Benelux countries we have earned a strong record for developing class leading products that have achieved outstanding success in the respective markets, especially in the field of protection products (notably mortgage term assurance products).
Product implementation

FES not only develops new products – we also have the skills to ensure that new products and ideas are successfully implemented. One of the key features we have is that we operate with a wide range of entities within the broader insurance world, which allows us to implement underwriting, systems and distribution solutions that support the products we develop for our clients. It is our thorough understanding of the elements required for a product to be successful that is key to our reputation for success in the market.
Concept realisation

Because of our broad experience and wide range of skills, our clients are often surprised to learn how we can take an idea of theirs and turn it into a market leading product. Very often we get approached by clients who have both a good basic idea and access to a delivery channel, but they lack the ability to turn this idea into a tangible product which could be developed and implemented in a manner that complies with regulation and ensures the stakeholders are accommodated. With our expert skills and experience, turning an idea or concept into a product is just one of the many services we offer.
Capacity solutions

Many companies require support for the products they have. These could be competitive rates to allow them to achieve a certain position in the market, or it could be solutions to help them with their solvency requirements. FES possesses valuable knowledge about how insurance companies could use the skills and capacity of other industry players, notably reinsurers, to help them achieve a more competitive position in their chosen markets.
Reinsurance Placing

FES has a longstanding relationship with Hannover Re, which allows us to find reinsurance solutions for both life assurance as well as non-life product requirements. Our expertise extends from having a good basic knowledge of the primary rates required to be competitive, as well as an understanding of the additional reinsurance solutions (e.g. catastrophe or excess of loss cover) that may be required to provide further protection.
Financial reinsurance (new business acquisition cost funding)

A key requirement and sometimes an obstacle faced by many of our clients is how to pay for the sometimes expensive development costs that will be required to bring a product to market. FES has, through its reinsurance partners, access to solutions that enable clients to meet both initial development costs as well as ongoing distribution costs, both of which are often referred to as “new business strain”.
